Powhatan Harvest Fest Party
These are photos taken at the 1st Annual Powhatan Harvest Fest Party.
WOW! What a success the 1st Annual Harvest Fest Party was held on October 31, 2006, at the
Powhatan County Fair Grounds located on Rt. 60.. It is estimated between 2,500 to 4,000 adults
and children attended the night of family fun. The event was not only for children to have a safe, fun place to go on
Halloween, but also to give back to some of our non-profit organizations in our community. Well, It definitely did
both! See the Special Thank You Letter to all that made it possible as
posted by Steve Glazebrook on November 3, 2006.
The event was a fundraiser for the Powhatan Sheriff's Department, County Fire Department and County Rescue Squad,
to support the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Powhatan County Fair Association. It was scheduled from 5-9 PM and the line of
traffic coming off Route 60 from East and West started around 5:00 PM and continued steady until around 5:30 PM, at
which time the parking lots and other areas designated for parking were running over. We are sorry, if any may have been
turned away. Arangements for additional parking will have to be made before next years event.
The community really came out for this event. But rightly so, for there was something for all age groups. For the Trick Or
Treaters, the community residents joined in by decorating their vehicles and filled the trunks with candy or other items for
them. It was a real "Trunk A Treat." The decorated cars were judged and the winners received event plaques donated by area
businesses. Event the Sheriff's Department and Rescue Squad joined in and had items for the kids.
